Inspirational School Leaders Group
On Friday 8th of May 2009, some of the most inspirational school leaders in England gathered at the Ramada Hotel in Manchester for the very first Inspirational School Leaders Group (ISLG) meeting.
The aim of the ISLG is to review strategic level matters within education and develop new initiatives that can be implemented nationwide. To accomplish this goal we are working very closely with the Department for Children, Schools and Families who are using the ISLG as both a sounding board on existing matters and also as a group who will help shape new education initiatives.
At the first session, members brought a number of on-going issues to the table for the group to dissect and brainstorm/share experience to achieve a successful conclusion. Furthermore, strategies to prevent these issues in the future were developed.
Additionally during the session Leaders within their chosen field were asked to contribute to the group. Alan Humphries (McLane Group) delivered a thought provoking workshop on leadership qualities and energies. This was superbly followed by Kathryn Simpson (Fusion Business Solutions) introducing the concept of Emotional Intelligence. This included a questionnaire for the members with results, analysis and guidance for the group.
The next session is already booked and our goal is to role the ISLG concept out to a nationwide audience.
